Alex Ovechkin Becomes Capitals Franchise Goals Leader

Last night, Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin surpassed Petr Bondra as the franchise leader in goals. Ovi reached the franchise plateau in 205 games less than his predecessor. It was the second major franchise record he surpassed this year, having passed Bondra for points earlier this season.

The record setting goal (below) came on the man advantage followed by another the following period to tie him with Jerome Iginla for second place among active players in PP goals.

With his 15th multi-goal game of the year Ovi doubled up on franchise records

Ovechkin is now the only Russian in the NHL to lead an active NHL franchise in goals and points.
