Despite not being invited to the Russian National Team training camp in Moscow earlier this month Nikolai Khabibulin is still being considered for the final roster in Vancouver. That according to Sports-Express, who after speaking with Russian Hockey Federation President Vladislav Tretiak claims that despite not getting an invite Khabby can still get a spot on the roster.

All participating teams have until December 30th to submit the final rosters which will be almost three full months after the NHL kicks off. This could also mean that a keeper from the KHL can also be considered since they are already a few weeks into their season.

Evgeni Nabokov would be the clear cut first choice for us at the site since he lead the team to their first gold on the World Championship ice since 1993. Khabibulin would have to have an impressive start with his new team in Edmonton in order to impress the National Team coaching staff.

As may have already known, Sergei Fedorov returned to the KHL to play alongside his younger brother Fedor. Fedorov scored his first club for Metallurg Magnitogorsk against Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. Watch as Fedorov in the no.18 jersey(his original number back at CSKA Moscow) manages to beat keeper Denis Franskevich despite being hooked.

The man still got it as far as we’re concerned. Note his brother in the 81 jersey coming to congratulate him. Through 5 games the younger Fedorov leads his brother with 6 points compared to his 2.
