Comrade of the Night-Alexander Ovechkin

With his fiance in the crowd and his best buddy opposite him on the ice, Alex Ovechkin exploded against the Devils on Saturday afternoon. The Capitals captain came to life against a dismal New Jersey team where he tallied his first hat trick of the year after not scoring in the past three games. Ovechkin opened the scoring for the Caps on the power-play in the second period when Mike Ribeiro found him wide open to slot past Johan Hedberg.

Comrade of the Night-Alexander Semin

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Alexander Semin is playing so well this season.  The great 28, who is in a contract year, is having a career year having notched 29 points, so far.  Certainly playing for a well-deserved contract come 2011, Alexander Semin exploded on both Tampa goalies today at the Verizon Center routing the Lightning, 6-0.  It only took a total of 4 minutes and 29 seconds in the 2nd period Semin to notch his 3rd hat-trick of the season and 6th overall for his career.

When Alexander The gr8 met King James

On Thursday night, after a Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards game LeBron James met Alexander Ovechkin for the first time. The two superstars from their respective leagues shared a brief conversation in which Ovechkin gave James an autographed jersey. James, feeling embarrassed he had nothing in return promised to send something Ovechkin’s way.

Lebron’s intial reaction to meeting AO was fantastic. Stating “Yeah. He’s a bad boy. God….I don’t know how you guys do that [stuff], sliding on ice and still hit the [dang] puck? Whooo.”

The introduction was handled by Capitals owner Ted Leonsis. Nicklas Backstrom was also on hand to meet James and his entourage. Moments before the introduction Ovechkin chatted it up with James’ team mate and Lithuanian born Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
